Two prominent Manchester musicians celebrate significant birthdays this year: David Ellis, the composer, turns 80 whilst the recorder player John Turner is now 70. It is with pleasure that St Ann’s will host some of their festivities.

  • The programme will include music mainly by Manchester composers who have been friends of them both:

  • Reflections on a Ground Ronald Frost (Organist of St Ann’s Church)
  • Songs of Hope and Desire David Ellis (Former Head of Music, BBC North)
  • Three Bird Songs (Premiere) Bridget Fry (Composer of the Theme from Z Cars!)
  • Song of the Sulamite (Premiere) Martin Dalby (Former Head of Music, BBC Glasgow)
  • All Things are Fair (Premiere) Barry Ferguson (Former Organist of Rochester Cathedral)
