Ministry of Jazz perform, record and broadcast across the North West of the UK, offering distinctive original compositions alongside classic jazz standards. They particularly enjoygiving old church tunes a new twist and their ‘Hymn Jazz’ is often the central feature in many of their recitals. A recent broadcast of their reggae version of “Praise my soul the King of heaven” caused a surprising dance stir over in The Gambia.

Featuring Daren Murrall on tenor and soprano saxophone and Nigel Reeve on piano and bass, Ministry of Jazz released “The Rhythm Of Light” in 2018, an album that presents a musical reflection of the colours and hues of the rainbow. Their collection of “Candlelight Carols – Live!” has been well received in each of the past three years and is available on CD in Gladstones and Liverpool Cathedral shop. Later this year, Volume 1 of their renowned Jazz Hymns, “Green Blade Rising”, is due for release and will include many of the popular pieces you can hear in the relaxing and uplifting ‘Café & Foyer’ sessions performed throughout the region.
