Reflection on The Spirit of Manchester Flower Festival
Twelve months ago, our city was rocked by the tragedy of the Manchester Arena bombing, the Square became a sea of flowers. The flowers laid in the Square were a symbol of our city’s grief and our city’s sadness. They also reflected our city’s compassion and our city’s love.
The Flower Festival seemed an appropriate event to commemorate the 12-month anniversary. In hosting The Spirit of Manchester Flower Festival we wanted to send a message to the victims’ families and those affected by the bombing, that we are thinking of them and we still care.
Thank you to everyone who has visited St Ann’s during the past few days. We hope you have found our church a place of welcome, solace and support.
As a city-centre church, we aim to be a place for all Mancunians and would like to encourage you to visit us again.
Ghislaine Howard’s Embracing Manchester art continues to be displayed in the church until the 6th June 2018.
